Captain Walmsley was the pilot of a B-26B Invader bomber of the 8th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group. During a night mission on September 14, 1951, he expended his bombs on an enemy rail system near Yangdok, Korea. Then he directed friendly aircraft fire by using the aircraft's searchlight to illuminate the targets. He continued until his aircraft was shot down by enemy anti-aircraft fire. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on February 28, 1954. |
