First Lieutenant Miller served with the US Merchant Marine during World War II. In Korea, he was the pilot of a LT-6G Mosquito control aircraft with the 6148th Tactical Air Control Squadron, 6147 Tactical Air Control Group. On July 10, 1952, he was flying a mission near Chunchon, Korea, when his plane was struck by enemy fire. He bailed out of his burning cockpit and landed safely. He was wounded and taken Prisoner of War. He was presumed dead on March 5, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
