Lieutenant Junior Grade Torosian was the pilot of a F4U-4 Corsair fighter with Fighter Squadron 94, aboard the carrier USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CV-47). On June 11, 1953, while on a combat mission over North Korea, his aircraft was struck by anti-aircraft fire, causing the engine to burst into flames. He bailed out over water but drowned before he could be rescued. |
