Chief Aircrew Survival Equipmentman Franchino was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a crew member of a PB5M Patrol Bomber with Patrol Bomber Squadron 46, U.S. Navy in Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action while participating in aerial support over Korea on November 5, 1950. He was presumed dead on March 29, 1951. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
