Corporal Tait was a member of Headquarters Battery, 57th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He was wounded in both legs and taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Hagaru, North Korea on December 6, 1950 and died while a prisoner on February 15, 1951. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. CPL Tait's remains have been recovered and identified.
