Corporal Searle was a jeep driver with Headquarters Battery, 57th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. On December 6, 1950, during the withdrawal from Hagaru-ri near the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea, he was wounded in the leg and put in a convoy of trucks. The convoy was ambushed and he was listed as Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
