Private First Class Porter was a member of Battery B, 15th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Hoengsong, South Korea on February 13, 1951. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. PFC Porter's remains have been recovered and identified in 2011. His name is permanently is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
