Captain Peterburs was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. On November 2, 1950, his battalion was covering the withdrawal on the Division near Unsan, North Korea. A Chinese commando raid on his command post killed or wounded most of the staff. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
