Corporal Meyers was a member of Company A, 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on December 1, 1950. He was seen in POW Camp #5, Pyoktong, North Korea and believed to have died in February 1951 from malnutrition and disease. His remains were not recovered at the time. Through the work of the Defense Department of Defense, the remains of Cpl. Meyers were accounted for in 2015. His name is permanently inscribed in the “Courts of the Missing” at the Honolulu Memorial.
