First Lieutenant Johnson was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Battery D, 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. On November 28, 1950, although wounded, he volunteered and successfully lead a patrol to relieve his unit's outpost near the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action on December 2, 1950 and was presumed dead on January 18, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
