Fireman (E3) Posey was a member of the Naval Support Activity, Danang, South Vietnam as a crew member of Yard Tugboat #779. On September 5, 1968, after assisting a Philippine tugboat in distress, his boat was returning to port when a large wave washed him overboard. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
