Lieutenant Commander Palenscar was a member of Attack Squadron 112, Carrier Air Wing 11 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS KITTY HAWK (CVA-63). On March 27, 1967, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Aircraft Skyhawk (A-4C) over North Vietnam when the aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on August 28, 1996 and identified on November 4, 2002. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
