For his leadership and valor, First Lieutenant Johnson was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He is loved and missed by family and friends, who wish God be with him.
Notes
First Lieutenant Johnson was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Battery D, 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. On November 28, 1950, although wounded, he volunteered and successfully lead a patrol to relieve his unit's outpost near the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action on December 2, 1950 and was presumed dead on January 18, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
