Captain Iacovitti was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he served with the Air Force in the Continental United States (CONUS). On November 28, 1952, he, his wife and children were passengers aboard a C-54 Skymaster transport, when it crashed near McChord Air Force Base, Tacoma, Washington, killing them.
