Private First Class Hill was a member of Battery D, 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy at Hill 1221 near the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea on December 2, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains have been recovered and identified, but his name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
