Lance Corporal Garcia was a member of Headquarters and Service Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On May 15, 1975, he was a passenger in a Sikorsky Sea Stallion Cargo Helicopter (CH-53) when it crashed into the sea offshore Cambodia. His remains were recovered on December 6, 1995 and identified on May 8, 2000. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
