Private First Class Fujimoto was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Chip'yong-ni, South Korea on February 15, 1951 and died while a prisoner on July 15, 1951. His remains were recovered on July 16, 1993 and identified on August 30, 2010. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
