First Lieutenant Foglesong was the pilot of a F-51D Mustang fighter with the 45th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing. On April 14, 1951, while on a combat mission, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire, crashed and burst into flames six miles south of Kaesong, South Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action and presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
