Sergeant Douglas was a member of Company D, 8th Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on July 31, 1950 and returned to duty on August 10, 1950. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting as infantry near Kasan, South Korea on September 4, 1950. He was presumed dead on January 22, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
