For his leadership and valor, Corporal Carnabuci was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Corporal Carnabuci was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 2, 1950 and returned to duty on September 23, 1950. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Unsan, North Korea on November 1, 1950. His remains were recovered on October 16, 2000 and identified on January 13, 2011. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
