Sergeant First Class Brickell was a member of Company D, 8th Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting as infantry near Kaeson, South Korea on September 4, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were recovered on September 10, 1951 and identified on December 29, 2009. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
